Swedish

Classic massage that uses long fluid strokes to obtain relaxation and increase blood circulation in tense and sore muscles.

Lymphatic

Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle form of massage that can help with management and reduction of acute or chronic edema. This type of massage can be effective for: lymphedema, post surgery swelling, chronic fatigue syndrome, migraines and/or fibromyalgia.

Therapeutic

Therapeutic massage that uses intense pressure designed to release tight, overused muscles. Good for athletes and those with chronic conditions.

Sports Massage

This massage service focuses on the needs of the athlete or weekend warrior to help them recover more quickly and prevent injury. Sports massage has a more targeted approach as it is applied to specific areas of concern. Techniques and modalities are used to reduce inflammation, minimize trigger points and help restore muscle flexibility and joint mobility. It is recommended the client wear shorts and tank top or sports bra to allow for passive stretching and mobility.

Pregnancy

Designed specifically to relieve discomfort associated with pregnancy and pamper the mother-to-be, this massage improves circulation and calms the body.

Scar Therapy

Scar tissue, both old and new, can often contribute to pain and tissue restrictions. Scar therapy can be helpful in remodeling scar tissue during and after your recovery . Your scar therapy session can include manual techniques along with microcurrent point stimulation, cupping, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (aka blading) or vibration therapy to reduce restrictions, improve mobility and decrease pain and sensitivities.

Additional Complimentary Massage Therapy Add-ons

Thai yoga techniques – combine acupressure, stretching, joint movement and breathing to relax the nervous system and body resulting in decreased muscle tension and increased relaxation and flexibility.

Instrument assisted massage (blading) – uses specially designed instruments to provide a mobilizing effect to scar tissue and myofascial adhesions for the purpose of reducing restrictions and pain and improving tissue mobility and restoring proper function

Red light therapy – is low-intensity laser therapy that stimulates healing while using low levels of light. During this procedure, different wavelengths and outputs of low-level light are applied directly to a targeted area. The body tissue then absorbs the light. The red and near-infrared light causes a reaction that stimulates damaged cells to promote regeneration and healing.

Myofascial release – includes techniques that help release adhesions and restrictions of the body’s connective tissue. It incorporates sustained pressure along with gentle stretching to help reduce areas in the body that can feel “stuck”. Using these techniques can help improve mobility and reduce pain in the body.

Hot stones – incorporates the use of hot stones with massage to melt away tension, induce relaxation and improve circulation.

Trigger point release techniques – Trigger points can be tender to the touch and refer pain to other areas of the body. Release techniques can include sustained pressure and/or gentle movement of a muscle in order to release muscle fibers that form those pesky “knots” in the body. Releasing these knots can help improve the function of the muscle and reduce pain.

Passive stretching – combined with other massage techniques stretching can help lengthen the muscle once it is in a more relaxed state. This decreases tension on the joints and helps to improve mobility and flexibility.

Scar release therapy – scar tissue can have up to 12 times the contractile strength of the original, normal tissue. This increase in tissue strength can some times impede movement and interrupt pain receptors in the body. Using cross friction massage, MPS therapy and myofascial release techniques, scar release therapy can help reduce discomfort and congestion associated with scar tissue.

Microcurrent Point Stimulation (MPS) therapy is another tool that can be incorporated in to your massage session with the use of a Dolphin Neurostim. MPS is a form of electric stimulation that can be used to reduce stress in the body. It is different than a TENS unit in that the Dolphin applies brief, concentrated direct current micro-impulses to key neurological points that reduce nervous system stress to relax muscles and relieve pain. The treatment is noninvasive and can instantly calm the nervous system, reduce stress and naturally release muscles and endorphins to relieve chronic pain through the body. With MPS therapy you can expect to feel light pressure from the point locator of the tool. If tissue is especially sensitive and/or inflamed a slight, temporary discomfort may occur.

While MPS therapy is not a cure for ailments is can be effective for :

  • scar release therapy
  • providing symptomatic relief
  • stress reduction
  • decreasing muscular tension
  • trigger point therapy
  • management of acute and chronic pain

Dolphin Neurostim is not recommended if you have a pacemaker or other electrical implants.

Cupping – What is cupping, exactly? If you have seen dark circular marks on an Olympic athlete lately, then you’ve gotten a glimpse of cupping. The use of cups dates back to ancient Middle Eastern and Asian medicine. Massage cupping is a modified version of the common practice of cupping therapy used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Cups are moved over the skin with gliding, rotating, and/or pulling motions. Cups may also be parked on the skin for a period of time. Through suction and negative pressure massage cupping can reduce tension in soft tissue, help move metabolic waste to the lymph system, loosen adhesions, and bring fresh blood flow to stagnant skin and muscles.

What you can expect: If cupping is used during your massage or treatment you can expect a sensation of tugging and tightness on the skin as the tissue is vacuumed in to a bell. Dark marks or “cup kisses” can occur where metabolic waste and stagnant blood is pulled from the tissue. Typically, this is not bruising. Depending on the level of waste that is pulled from the tissue, the marks typically dissipate in a day to a week.

Cupping is effective for trigger point release, releasing adhesions on scars, decreasing muscular and soft tissue tension, reducing congestion in soft tissue as well as improving joint mobility and lymph flow.

Additional Charge Massage Therapy Add-ons

Thai herbal compress balls – herbs are wrapped in a compress, steamed and then applied to the body with gentle pressing and circular motions. Each ball contains herbs- a combination of lemongrass, turmeric, tamarind, camphor, prai and kaffir lime-that can help reduce inflammation, improve circulation, stimulate the lymphatic system and ease muscular pain and tension. Compresses do have an additional charge of $10, however they can be used several times over the course of a few weeks.

Stretching

A stretch session can be a session on its own or add on to massage. Stretch session is done one on one, passively, in a private room with consultation to best meet your needs and expectations.

A shorter session would be ideal for one area (ie, a hip or shoulder) or major muscle groups. A longer session would be idea for addressing total body, where all muscles and joints would be treated.

Benefits of stretching include:

  • improve sports performance
  • improve flexibility and mobility
  • reduce tension and fatigue in muscles
  • decrease recovery time between activities

Instructions for stretching at home can also be provided.

To prepare for your appointment:

  • Wear or bring loose, comfortable clothing that allow you to move freely.

Cost:

  • 60 minutes: $90
  • 30 minutes: $45
  • 15 minutes: $25
